Colour Landscapes, 1981-90
A series of ‘large format’ ‘5×4 inch’ (10.1 x 12.7 cm) colour film ‘transparencies’ available for reproduction as digital files, as fine art inkjet prints on archival rag paper and limited edition ‘dye transfer’ prints. Enquire here.
These photographs made between 1981 and 1990 record natural and semi-natural landscapes in south-eastern Australia, the Fiordland region of New Zealand, the Nepalese and Indian Himalaya, the Middle East and east Africa. All can be reiterated as inkjet prints and a selection of fourteen are available as limited edition ‘dye transfer’ (dye-imbibation) prints. Dye transfer is the most beautiful and permanent of all pre-digital colour printing methods. Each print was meticulously hand made using traditional analogue (wet, darkroom) materials and techniques in 1990-91 — just before the manufacture of dye transfer materials was discontinued by Kodak.
Many of the Australian images appear in the books Victoria’s Alps: an Australian Endangered Heritage (1983) and Range Upon Range: the Australian Alps (1987)
