Victoria’s Alps: An Australian Endangered Heritage, 1983

Commissioned by the Australian Conservation Foundation, Victoria’s Alps argued the case for protecting the Victorian segment of the Australian high country – the ‘Victorian Alps’ – in a contiguous national park. The text is accompanied by images by the author and photographers including Clyde O’Donnell, Jutta Hosel, Henry Gold, Geoff Parr, Bruce Rigby and David Tatnall. After decades of campaigning by the conservation movement the book became part of a successful effort leading to the declaration by the then state government of the 646,000 hectare Alpine National Park on June 6, 1989.
